Representation for Speeding Tickets and Other Traffic Violations
Most people rely on their driver's license to get around. While it is convenient when everything goes well, drivers' licenses can also present additional problems. If you were speeding to get to work on time, driving without insurance or the cause of a car accident, you may be facing serious penalties.
Whether your traffic violation happened on the Massachusetts Turnpike, Route 1, 95, 128 or 495, it is important to work with an experience lawyer to fight your charges. I am attorney Jeff Sweeney, and I defend clients who are facing charges for speeding tickets or other traffic crimes. My firm — the Law Offices of Jeffrey G. Sweeney — represents clients throughout Essex County and the Greater Boston Area. Contact me online or call 978-712-4829 to schedule your free initial consultation.
Understanding Traffic Violations
After a traffic ticket is issued, whether a speeding ticket or another type of citation, there is a clerk's hearing in the district court. After this, the citation may be appealed to the district court judge. Because an appeal must be made within ten days of receiving the citation, it is important to mail the citation back and contact an attorney as quickly as possible. I defend clients who are facing charges for:
- Driving after license suspension
- Uninsured driver
- Moving violations
- Speeding tickets
- Negligent operation of a vehicle
- Excessive speeding (30-49 miles about the speed limit)
- Driving to endanger
If you receive seven penalties within four years, your license can be suspended for four years. Although you can appeal to reinstate or reduce the penalty timeframe, it is beneficial to work with an attorney.
